8/21 Were going home tonight! Good bye Africa. πŸ˜ͺ

Such a bitter sweet day. Going home is always something to look forward to but I will never be the same.

We had our breakfast and then gave our gift and gratuity to Peter. We will miss him.

We did some last minute shopping and then packed. We went out for one last walk and a nice lunch.

I was thinking about this city. It has very nice and very poor areas. There is homelessness and beggars like in every big city. But there is a ton of money as well. The economy is bad. 45% unemployment and no jobs on the horizon. Educated people that cannot make a good living.

The city itself is lovely. The coastline, the waterfront, the gardens, great food. But with no potential to earn a living. it will not be more then a retirement tourist city.

We skipped the additional city tour. From what I heard I’m glad I did. So much poverty in the housing areas they visited. But then there sits the Mercedes. The filthy rich the sadly poor and starving.

We left for the airport tonight at 7:00. AB our tour guide drove us to the airport. 11 of us crammed in a 7 passenger van. It was quite cozy. I will not miss Cape Town but I will certainly miss Africa.

We made it on time sat in the lounge for awhile then boarded. Here I sit on our first leg of three. A very long way home.

I really can’t wait to see the family. I miss them all dearly. I wonder if my kids missed us? I know the grands certainly did. I could feel their presence while I was away.

It was great to get home and see my little Shitzu Oreo. To be in our own bed and house.

Traveling stirs something inside of me but having a home gives me a Spence of belonging.

Thank you for taking this trip with Troy and I. Africa will always be a part of us. I urge you to take the trip. OAT Overseas Adventure Travel was a good choice for us. Peter Ndati was the perfect guide for this trip.
