8/2 Awesome Game drives.

Another early morning game drive.

Right from the start we drive upon a heard of giraffes. So playful and beautiful. You simply don’t want to leave them. The two males were Fighting yet in a playful way. Like Cade and Miles. Then the sunrise…

Just a moment later we’re gazing upon the rings. At this reserve they take their horns off to protect them from the poachers. So sad to think about how people kill such beautiful creatures for the horn. Our guide said it was the Chinese. For the keratin. That along with the corrupt African officials that let it out of the country.

More Zebras, and baboons. It was colder yesterday. We were bundled up.

We return back to camp for breakfast then off to do a bush walk. I was most interested in the tracks and poop. Joe our guid did an amazing job of explaining the tracks and the skat and dung. We looked at different kinds of poop and he explained what they ate. The animals poop that eat vegetation doesn’t smell. The meat eaters poop does. We looked at burrows and holes and he explained what kind of an animal dug it and why. And how he could tell. The walk was really educational and interesting.

After the walk I took an ice cold plunge in our deck pool. Omg it was cold. Then lunch and off to another game drive. My darling is tired I’m afraid.

The afternoon drive started out with more giraffes and warthogs at a watering hole. We followed tracks for a long time trying to ding a leopard but never did. We saw a water buffalo just before our sundowner. Did I mention the amazing trees?

Back to the camp for a rest then dinner. After dinner I took a long bath and we were both out like a light.

  1. I loved your integrating your wonderful pictures with commentary. Brought out more realistically your adventure and description as you saw it. The animals are just beautiful. As you said, it is sad that humans are the enemy and of course the money. You both look happy and so much engaged. Love following you.
