8/17 Off to CapeTown

We got up had another great breakfast.

Maybe the best I’ve had. Poached egg over spinach and mushrooms with hollandaise sauce.

Then a lecture by Chris Worden about David Livingstone. What an interesting story. Troy bought a pamphlet about the man. I won’t go into detail but I urge you to read up on David Livingston.

At 9:00 we depart the hotel to the Victoria Falls airport. A last good bye to Debbie, Jim and Ruth.

Checkin go again through customs then onto a 3 hour flight to Cape Town.

As I sit here on the plane reflecting on the past three weeks I feel absolutely no regrets. We got up had another great breakfast the a lecture by Chris Worden about David Livingstone. As I sit here on the plane reflecting on the past three weeks I feel absolutely no regrets. The flight is three hours. I have to prepare myself for the city now.

Everything has been splendid. I am very happy about the packing. I managed to bring just what we needed. A few to many shirts perhaps. We have given away quite a few things we brought with the intention to do so.

Opening room for the things we buy along the way. Having these lightweight breathable pants and shirts is great. I think this has been the first trip my feet have not hurt. I have lived in my hiking boots and occasionally the hiking Sandals. Who would have thought I could live with only three pair of shoes for so long.

Troy has been complimented endlessly on how great he looks. So well put together. He gives me all the credit. We love our last minute purchase, our Tilly hats. Mine has become adorned with feathers, thorns, and bits from the Bush. We always seem to be comfortable temperature wise. It really helped having laundry service at all the camps. We have washed our own smalls. Everything has been splendid. I am very happy about the packing. I managed to bring just what we needed. A few to many shirts perhaps. Once we landed and cleared customs we piled into a big bus and headed to the hotel. We passed the saddest place I’ve ever seen. Shacks and shanties for Miles so much poverty on the way to our luxury hotel.

For dinner tonight we broke into two groups. The 8 Virginians that we have fondle named the dogs. On one drive our guide asked what a

Bunch of dogs together was called and Troy shouted out the Virginians! So of course the song went with it. “Who let the dogs out?”

It took awhile to get to our home host house. The neighborhood was not all that great. Lots of homeless. Our Home host was a woman who never married. She has a sister there with her and nephew who was a police officer. There was photos up everywhere of her brother with so many famous people. Nelson Mandela, Queen Elizabeth, Michael Jackson, Pricess Diana, Will smith, Bruce Willis, all people he had worked with as a body guard. Needless to say she was proud. She cooked us a very nice dinner. We gave her a deck of cards with the US national parks and some money to help with her homeless feeding. She cooks allot for them.

She wanted to marry a rich man and move to the states. She wants to work for me.
