8/10 Chobe National Park

After breakfast we’re off to another Morning drive in Chobe Park.

Right away we saw the Elephants.

We see a ton of birds today. I am beginning to recognize them. My favorite all time bird. Reminded me of our cute quails but bigger.

Black wing stilt,Yellow build stork,2 Hammerkop building the nest, Blacksmith plover, Egyptian geese, Red billed hornbill- zazoo on lion king, Pied kingfisher-Black and white spotted bird with long beak,White crowned lapwing or plover- with yellow mustache ,Vultures,Tawny Eagle,Nest of sparrows,Three Corey bustards…this is starting sound like a familiar song with a partridge in a pear tree.

We saw the cutters banded mongoose and then the lions.

Chobe game Reserve has been here longer then any other the park.

Liz Taylor and Burt Lancaster got married there the second time.

When we returned to camp we had high tea.

Then a couple of woman came in and gave a basket weaving demonstration. Troy volunteered to make a bead. We purchased Baskets and necklaces that were make in their tribe. The young kids 6-8 years make the necklace and bracelets the 16years and up make the baskets. I bought Basket weaved necklaces and bracelets and a few baskets Troy picked out.

In the evening we went out on the Chobe river on a boat. It was a great view from a different angle. I really enjoyed how peaceful it was.

I could really look through the binoculars and see things. We saw crocodiles close up, the Cape buffalo, the hippos it was all so close almost surreal.

Back to camp for dinner then off to our cabins.
