Today is a travel day. We got up and out at 5:30 am. It was still dark so we were collected from our tents.
We drove two hours in the freezing cold Jeep. I was so bundled I cold only see from a Tiny slit Between my hat and scarf.

We arrived in a small town to purchase groceries for the village we are visiting.
We all gave some money to buy groceries.
While I was standing in line to purchase my groceries a woman came up and asked me
If she could swipe for me. I said no not understanding the situation.
When we got back to the bus our guide explained the terrible Finacial situation in
Zimbabwe. The citizens cannot get their
Money out of the banks. They are paid and the money goes into their accounts but they are only allowed to get 30$ out a week.
The government in steeling their cash.
So they are forced to shop at the stores that charge more. Instead of the local markets where the prices are much less.
We just stopped at a village. The head of the village gave a talk about the village and then gave us a look around his home. I played soccer with five kids instead of accompanying the group. We passed out some ball caps we brought and I was short one so I gave the little girl my pink bandana. She was darling. So reminded me of Rose. I showed them photos of my grandkids and they were so interested in looking at all my photos.
When it was time to go I got choked up.And tears rolled down my cheeks. I hugged them all. Some of them hugged back with so much love. Their mothers hovered but they could see the love I have for all children.
I thanked them for sharing their children with me. They brought me great joy. I miss my own broad. I know how much they would love it here. God willing Troy and I will be back with our family.
We’ve cleared immigration in Zimbabwe and crossed the bridge at Victoria Falls into Zambia. While we were stopped some young men came to the windows on the bus selling items. One man saw the bag of potato chips
I had beside me and put his fingers to his lips
Indicated he was hungry. Troy handed him the chips. We are so blessed in our lives.

We are driving to Livingston to hop on a small plane.to head to Kafue National Park.
Livingston was a Britain’s colony. It used to be the capital of Zambia. The buildings are all colonial style. When we drove over the bridge we saw part of Victoria Falls. I can’t wait to come back and explore it in a few days.
We are sitting in a very small plane. One passenger in the cockpit Troy and I on the left facing each other. Three side by side facing us and one behind me. We are on a short 1.5 hour flight. We land on an airstrip in the Bush. He said we may have to do fly bus if there are animals on The airstrip….
Nice Smooth Safe landing in the middle of the Bush. This is just like the movies. We had a little snack and beer then back in the jeeps for two hours to our next camp. Nice Bush drive on the way.

We were greeted with the staff dancing and singing. The camp is very nice. At least what we can see of it. A cocktail, safety orientation then dinner. It’s pitch black out so we are escorted to our tents. Very similar to the last. Though we are on a river full of hippos and crocodiles.
The sounds in the night were very different.
Loud hippo noises, lots of birds and so many bugs. Big big bugs….
