Last night I woke to the loud sound of cracking wood. The elephants were eating the trees right outside our tent.
Early breakfast then all day game drive.
First off was the heard of Buffalo

Then a hot pursuit to chase a hyena. He was to fast for photos but great treat.
Then another one.
The birds are simply incredible here in the Bush To many to describe. They feed on the dung and spread seeds. Many of the trees growing are not from here but rather transports via the birds.
The smallest steenbok. So cute. They are antelopes.
We learned the difference in the type of eaters they are.
Grazers eat only grass. (Hippos) browsers eat grass and leaves.( impalas, giraffes, elephants kudos Ect…) insectivores eat bugs and insects , (aardvarks) , carnivores eat meat,( lions) omnivores eat both, herbavours only plants.
We stopped to do a walk through the Savanah. Flanked by two spotters with riffles.

We talked about animal tracks and what we all thought was a snake trail actually was from a baby elephant being dragged to a safe place to eat it. One of the rifled spotters saw three lions close by heading away from us. We followed them for quite a distance. Eventually turning back and pursuing them by jeep. Super exciting to see them hunting.
We stopped for morning tea and a lecture on the political views on nature’s conservation.
We headed out again across the Savanah gazing upon more elephants, ostrich, birds….

Stopping for lunch in a wooded area. We had cold chicken, vegetables empanadas and peanut butter and marmalade sandwiches.
Off again to find elephants playing in the water. Then I’m came the baboons. I could have watch them for hours. It was precious.

On our way back to camp we spotted a lone Sable antelope. Black, white belly and butt, furry main, Long horns. Quite a rare find in this area.

We got back around 3:30. During our rest time
We showered and Troy and I wrote a song for after dinner. As we are expected to entertain our camp hosts to show our appreciation.
To the toon of take me out to the ballgame
It goes like this:
Take me to the Savanah
Take me out in the Bush
Find me some lions and a giraffe
Elephants,zebras,and all of that
So let’s root root for the young buffalo
If they loose their life it’s a shame.
For its 1,2,3 baboons
At the ole pelican pool.
Before dinner another game drive. Never disappointed in all we see.

Tonight is our last night at this camp. We get up early tomorrow and go to a village then off to our new Tented camp location.
The Cape buffalo and elephants are right outside our tents tonight. They make so much noise. It’s a growl then the horn sound then the crackling of the trees. It’s really insane how close they are to our tents. We are always escorted back by a guide with a flashlight and gun. Once your in your in. We have a blow horn for an absolute emergency.
No cell phone service. The kind of scary excitement I like. I really can’t believe the sounds.
The workers here danced and sang for us then we all did something for them. Our song was great. We danced around the campfire like the natives. It was great fun. Had some wine then dinner. Off to the tents to sleep.
Tomarrow seems to be a crazy long travel day.
With a village stop in between.
